S235JR is a European standard non-alloy structural steel, equivalent to the national standard Q235B, which is a carbon structural steel with low carbon content. It is used for welding, bolting and riveting structures.
Carbon structural steel is a kind of carbon steel. The carbon content is about 0.05%~0.70%, and some can be as high as 0.90%. It can be divided into ordinary carbon structural steel and high-quality carbon structural steel. It is widely used in railway, bridge, various construction projects, manufacturing various metal components that bear static load, unimportant mechanical parts and general weldments that do not need heat treatment.

Surface classification
Ordinary surface (FA)
The pickled surface is allowed to have slight and local defects such as pits, dents, scratches, etc. whose depth (or height) does not exceed half of the thickness tolerance of the steel plate, but the minimum allowable thickness of the steel plate and steel strip shall be guaranteed.
Higher surface (FB)
The pickling surface is allowed to have local defects that do not affect the formability, such as slight scratches, slight indentations, slight pits, slight roller marks and color differences.

It is mainly used for building, bridge, ship, vehicle structural parts, manufacturing various tools, cutting tools, molds and measuring tools.
